The South African cello virtuoso Abel Selaocoe doesn’t back away from any repertoire: he has a great affinity with baroque, classical and contemporary music. But he most enjoys exploring the connections between jazz, improvised and non-Western music, for which he completely redefines his playing technique as well as his cello. Singing, humming, plucking, drumming and yes, even bowing, he conjures a soundscape that touches the listener in a magical way.
